Inspired by the classical Chinese painting “One Hundred Horses” (百駿圖), this artwork reimagines the scene with only eight horses.
At first glance, they appear almost the same.
Yet your eyes keep returning to the one in the middle.
Sometimes a small imperfection changes the way we see everything.
This piece reflects on how society often favors similarity. When everyone moves in the same direction, the one who is different easily becomes the one being watched.
The idea was also inspired by the viral “crying horse” (哭哭馬) plush from China, where a small accidental design mistake made the horse appear unexpectedly emotional.
